Nation Estate - Olive Tree, C-print, 150x75cm, Larissa Sansour, 2012
"We must mobilise everything [we] can find in terms of intellectual resources in order to understand what keeps making the lives we live and the societies we live in profoundly and deeply anti-humane."
         — Stuart Hall

Journal of Visual Culture is an international refereed journal that welcomes compelling, critically engaged contributions that explore and expand trans-disciplinary global visual cultures.

The August issue of Journal of Visual Culture is out!

  • The JVC Palestine Portfolio, a themed section of 48 contributions, running to 250+ pages, in solidarity with Palestine/Palestinians

  • Neta Alexander and Tali Keren’s ‘Paper, Glass, Algorithm: Teleprompters and the Invisibility of Screens’

  • Juliette Singh in conversation with Chase Joynt on ‘The Nest’, radical materialities, and interracial alliances

  • Georgina Kleege’s ‘The Art of Touch: Lending a Hand to the Sighted Majority’, and

  • Katarina Korola’s ‘Blue Like the Mediterranean: The Work of the Monochrome in The Atlas Group Archive’

The JVC Palestine Portfolio is an incredibly powerful, heartfelt, heart-wrenching, life-affirming and hopeful polyphony of reminiscences, art works, graphic designs, scholarly texts, critical writings, briefings, visual activism, petitions, and mobilisations. Thanks to Sage, it is free to access, and is available to download (and circulate widely, if you’re so inclined) on the Sage site (https://journals.sagepub.com/home/vcu) and here.
